Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - St. Thomas (10-7, 4-3 TSC) came from behind to take down host Keiser (19-2, 7-1 TSC), the seventh ranked team in NAIA Division II, 68-66 on Saturday evening in West Palm Beach. Â It marked the second win over a top-10 team in the past nine days by the Bobcats who handed the Seahawks their first Sun Conference loss and just their second loss overall this season.Â
Michael Walker led St. Thomas with 20 points.
Tim Sada had 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc with all four of his three-pointers coming in the final eight minutes of the second half.
Armand Shoon also had 14 points, making three field goals from behind the arc.
Mikon Hewitt registered eight points and a team-high eight assists.
Raheem Bowman led the Bobcats on the glass with nine rebounds to go along with five points.
The Bobcats trailed the entire first half and took a 34-20 deficit into intermission. Â Keiser continued to control the game, leading 48-38 with just over ten minutes to play in the second half. STU battled back behind Sada's hot three-point shooting, tying the score at 61-61 on two made free throws by Walker. Â
The teams traded baskets, before a free throw by Tyrus Weaver put Keiser back ahead 64-63. Sada then hit another three-pointer at the 2:29 mark to give the Bobcats their first lead of the game. Â After a defensive stop, Shoon hit a jumper with 1:48 to play to extend the STU lead to four points.
Keiser got within two points with under a minute to play and had an opportunity to win the game on a buzzer beater by Stanley Whitaker who launched a well-defended three-point attempt that bounced off the rim to secure the victory for St. Thomas.
Conference play continues for St. Thomas on Tuesday when the Bobcats host Ave Maria at 8 p.m. at the Fernandez Family Center.
