WALKER CATCHES FIRE AS BOBCATS HANDLE AVE MARIA

Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Michael Walker scored 28 points on 12-of-15 shooting to lead St. Thomas (11-7, 5-3 TSC) to a 85-66 win over Ave Maria (5-17, 2-7 TSC) Tuesday night at  the Fernandez Family Center. 

Walker caught fire in the second half, scoring 18 of 28 points.  He hit 8-of-10 shots in the second stanza including two three-pointers. 

Armand Shoon (12 points, 6 rebounds) and Maxwell Webster (10 points, 4 rebounds) gave STU big production off the bench, while Raheem Bowman added 11 points.

Ave Maria cut STU's lead to ten points with 11:09 to play in the second half before Walker scored five straight points to ignite a 10-2 run.

The Bobcats shot 54% from the field, including eight made three-pointers.  St. Thomas went to the line a whopping 39 times as Ave Maria employed a strategy to send the Bobcat front court players to the charity stripe.

St. Thomas returns to action on Saturday with a trip to Sun Conference rival Southeastern. Game time is 4 p.m. in Lakeland, Fla.
