Jamesha Willis scored a career-high 33 points to lead St. Thomas (3-6, 2-0 TSC) in a 67-58 win over crosstown rival Florida Memorial (2-7, 0-2 TSC) Tuesday night at the Fernandez Family Center.
Willis went 10-of-17 from the field, 3-of-5 from the three-point line and 10-of-12 from the free throw line en route to her career-high scoring output. It marked the most points scored by a STU player since
Dannisha Pierce scored 37 points vs. Ave Maria on Jan. 7, 2015. Willis's previous career-high was 17 points scored last season vs. Allen (S.C.). Willis also led the Bobcats with seven rebounds, recorded a game-high three steals and dished out two assists.
Supavadee Kunchuan scored 17 points on 8-of-14 shooting with eight points in the opening quarter.Â
Samara Auguste added eight points, while
Katie Rienas scored nine.Â
Maria Iglesias, who played much of the second half with four fouls yet avoided fouling out, pulled down six rebounds.
The Bobcats, playing with just their five players, avoided any of their starters fouling out and outshot the Lions 48% to 37% en route to the victory.
Sun Conference play continues for the Bobcats on Friday when they host Southeastern at 6 p.m. at the Fernandez Family Center.
