Box Score Miami Gardens, Fla.- St. Thomas (3-5-1, 2-1 TSC) defeated Ave Maria (1-7, 0-3 TSC) 4-2 Monday evening at Bobcat Field.
The Gyrenes got off to an early start when they scored a goal off a free kick in the 17th minute. The Bobcats would tie the match up to open up the second half a beautiful curler off a free kick from Kris Wilkinson. Within five minutes STU would take the lead in the match from an unassisted goal in which Tomas Greco danced around the defenders to reach the back of the net.Â
Ave Maria answered yet again, tying the game at two. With the score tied 2-2, Chris Valdes scored the dramatic game-winner with five minutes remaining in regulation.
Frank Long followed with an insurance goal in the final minute with a mid field shot, catching the goal keeper off his line to ice the victory for the Bobcats.
Next up for St Thomas is a conference matchup at home against Warner on Wednesday, October 12 at 7 p.m. at the Bobcat Field.Â
