Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky.- St. Thomas (19-3) defeated Bryan (15-14) in four sets 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 25-14, 26-24) to make their mark at the Lindsey Wilson College Tournament.Â
After dropping the first set, the Bobcats needed something to spark them towards a victory and it came in the second set. With the scoreline all tied up 9-9, STU went on a 7-0 run as Haley Bannister was up to serve, picking up three service aces, and Whitney Battoe earning three kills along this spree, igniting the Bobcats' 3-0 set run.Â
STU never looked back after the loss in the first set, defeating Bryan in its first match of the tournament.

In the fourth set with the Bobcats down 22-24, the team was at the verge of dropping another set. Dana Nowaczyk acquired a kill to start the 4-0 run that ended the set in favor of St. Thomas. Nowacyk and Battoe connected on the next two plays which brought the Bobcats within one point of victory. A Brooke Sorenson and Shanotta Bawek block helped STU gain the win.

St. Thomas finished the match with players earning match leading stats. Battoe (17 kills, two service aces, and nine digs) along with Bawek (16 kills, 13 digs, two service aces, and one assist), helped lead the Bobcats to victory. Assisting in St. Thomas's victory as well were the assist queens themselves, Nowaczyk (27 assists and eight digs) and Priscila Ertty (28 assists and five digs), ending the match with team high numbers. Bannister registered 26 digs, a match high, along with four service aces.
