Box Score THOMASVILLE, Ga. – No. 6 seed St. Thomas (11-6) defeated no. 3 seed Thomas (9-9) 2-0 in the quarterfinals of The Sun Conference Championship Tournament.   With the win, the Bobcats advance to Tuesday's semifinals of The Sun Conference Championships to play either Ave Maria or Southeastern.

Junior midfielder Sarah Lyppert Thomsson scored two sensational goals to propel the Bobcats to the victory.  In the 34th minute, Lyppert Thomsson used an assist by Ana Parra to her advantage and scored from 25 yards out to give STU a 1-0 lead.  Lyppert Thomsson then scored on a remarkable shot in the 68th minute from 45 yards perfectly placed over the TU goalkeeper that gave the Bobcats an insurance goal.

Goalkeeper Olivia Waller recorded her sixth shutout of the season.  Waller required just two saves in the shutout thanks to another strong showing by the STU defense of Stephanie Martin, Andreina Sifontes, Jannel Johnson, and Kylie Braeseke.
Taylor Malone was a game changer as well with strong play on both sides of the field, first from her starting forward position and later in the midfield.

The goals for Lyppert Thomsson were her fourth and fifth goals of the year, tying her for the team lead in goals with Johnson and Kortney Hinden.  The performance was reminiscent of Lyppert Thomsson's two-goal output at Georgia Gwinnett in STU's season-opener on August 19 when she also scored on two shots from long range.

The Bobcats now return home in preparation for the Sun Conference Championship Semifinals against either Southeastern or Ave Maria.  If second seeded Southeastern wins its quarterfinal on Saturday night, the Bobcats will travel to Lakeland for the semifinal.  If no. 7 seed Ave Maria upsets Southeastern, then St. Thomas would host the semifinals.
