Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - #4 St. Thomas (7-1, 2-1 TSC) dropped their first game of the season to crosstown rivals Florida Memorial (4-2, 3-0 TSC) by a score of 59-68 . The newly renovated FMU Wellness Center proved to be a hostile environment for the Bobcats in the famed Battle of Miami Gardens.
The first half was a defensive battle that left St. Thomas trailing Florida Memorial by a score of 21-30. The Bobcats played the Lions even in the second half which resulted in a 38-38 score line. In the end, however, St. Thomas could not overcome the shooting prowess of Florida Memorial. The Lions made 48 percent of their shots from the floor, and drained 6-of-6 three pointers.
Leading the way for the Bobcats was
Michael Walker II with 18 points, four rebounds and two assists.
Timothy Sada added 14 points, two rebounds, one assist and one block.
Kristers Zeidaks was a physical presence for St. Thomas, totaling eight rebounds before fouling out of the game late in the second period. Â The Bobcats shot 36 percent from the field and 6-of-10 from beyond the arc.
Next up for St. Thomas is an away matchup against Florida National University on Saturday, December 10.
