BOBCATS HOLD OFF LIONS IN CLOSE CONFERENCE BATTLE

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.- St. Thomas (2-3, 2-0 TSC) holds off Florida Memorial (0-6, 0-2 TSC) 58-54 in a Sun Conference match up Thursday night in the FMU Wellness Center.
 
The Bobcats came out playing with confidence after their first win last week scoring 27 first half points and taking a five point lead into halftime. FMU searching for its first win of the season wasn't going to give up as they added 22 points to close out the first half.
 
St. Thomas stumbled in the third quarter only scoring 12 points as the Lions added 16 to cut the Bobcat lead to one point 39-38 heading into the fourth.
 
In the fourth STU took over scoring 19 points in the final quarter to get their first winning streak of the season started. Desanta' Franklin-Jordan held the Lions off by knocking down four crucial free throws in the last minute of the game to give St. Thomas the victory 58-54.
 
Franklin-Jordan led the Bobcat attack with 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting with five rebounds, five assist and three steals. Samara Auguste added 12 points, three rebounds and also had three steals. Jordan Charlton also scored double digits with 10 points and five rebounds as well as going 2-of-4 from beyond the arc.  
 
As a team the Bobcats went 20-of-60 shooting 33.3% from the field. They also went 3-of-11 from downtown giving them 27.2% shooting from deep with nine team steals.
 
Next up for the Bobcats is another Sun Conference match up on the road against Ave Maria this Saturday December 2nd at 2 p.m.
