MIAMI GARDENS, FLA.- St. Thomas (9-3) took down Florida National (9-9) in the final game of the STU Classic 92-80 on Tuesday night at the Fernandez Family Center.
The match came with a lot of anticipation as the Bobcats came shy of a victory against the Conquistadores ten days ago, dropping the match on December 10. The rematch lived up to the hype as the first quarter brought a tight 46-43 lead for St. Thomas.
It wasn't until the second half that the Bobcats took control, with a commanding 92-80 score line, 12-point margin victory to seal the win in the final match of the STU Classic.
Leading the way for the Bobcats was
Mikon Hewitt, recording his first double-double of the season with 23 points and 11 assists, to go along with his two steals. Following closely was
Raheem Bowman, who also recorded a double-double (number eight on the season) with a total of 20 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Kristers Zeidaks closed out the night with 18 points, eight rebounds, five assists, three blocks and two steals.
Next up for the Bobcats is a matchup against Judson University on December 29 at 8 p.m. at the Fernandez Family Center to kick off the Shula's Hotel Classic.
