MIAMI GARDENS, FLA.- #21 St. Thomas (10-4) suffered it's fourth loss of the season against Concordia (9-6) by a score of 73-74 in the closing match of the Shula's Hotel Classic.
The Bobcats suffered a heavy first half blow with Concordia taking control of the match heading in to the locker room with a 10 point lead. STU came out of the half strong and fought a hard battle but came up just short to team that was shooting 44.4% from beyond the arc, draining 12 threes. From being down 10, the Bobcats brought it down to one with 13.6 seconds left. A tough one to swallow for the team but surely, bouncing back is all the team has on their minds moving forward.
Noteworthy numbers on the night for St. Thomas came from
Mikon Hewitt who recorded a double-double (second of the season, and has now earned double-doubles in two of his last three games) which consisted of 16 points, 11 assists, two rebounds, and two steals.
Kristers Zeidaks scored a team high 17 points to go along with his two assists, three rebounds, and two steals. Newcomer Tyrone Houghton grabbed five boards, blocked 4 shots and earned six points and two steals.
Armand Shoon spread himself all over the floor grabbing five rebounds, which complimented his 16 points, three assists and five steals.
Next up for the Bobcats is a conference matchup at home against Thomas University on Thursday January 5
th at 8 p.m. at the Fernandez Family Center.
