MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – St. Thomas (10-5, TSC 2-2) was overwhelmed by conference foes Thomas University (7-4, TSC 2-3) in a Thursday night contest at the Fernandez Family Center. The Bobcats lost to the Nighthawks by a final score of 61-93.
St. Thomas had an uncharacteristically poor game in terms of shooting percentage. The Bobcats shot just 37 percent from the field, 19 percent from beyond the arc, and 48 percent from the free throw line.
Thomas University, on the other hand, had a much better conversion rate when knocking down shots. The Nighthawks shot 59 percent from the field, 47 percent from downtown, and 58 percent from the free throw line.
Thomas University also did a much better job of taking care of the rock. The Nighthawks turned the ball over just six times, whereas the Bobcats had 14 turnovers as a team.
There was one bright spot for St. Thomas, which came in the form of a double-double from
Raheem Bowman. Bowman led all players in rebounds with 18 boards and led the Bobcats in scoring with 21 points.
Next up for St. Thomas is an away game against conference opponents Warner University at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
