LAKELAND, Fla. - Webber International (20-10, 12-4 TSC) defeated St. Thomas (14-10, 13-3 TSC) 54-45 in the semifinals of The Sun Conference Championship tournament on Friday night in Lakeland, Fla.  
 

Sun Conference Freshman of the Year Samara Auguste led the Bobcats with 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting, including four made three-pointers.  Katie Rienas added nine points with two three-pointers.  Bianca Partlow led STU on the glass with 10 rebounds.

 

Deslyn Applewhaite led Webber Intl. with 16 points.

 

St. Thomas fell behind 13-5 early, yet cut the WIU advantage to 15-10 as Rienas converted a three-point play to end the first quarter.  The Warriors maintained their lead in the second quarter and took a 25-20 advantage into halftime.
 

Samare Auguste hit a three-pointer with four minutes remaining in the third quarter to tie the game at 32-32.  Supavadee Kunchuan then gave STU the lead 38-37 with just under two minutes to play in the third.  The third quarter ended with WIU up 41-37.

The Warriors outscored STU 13-8 in the final quarter to put the game away.
