MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - No. 6 USCB (31-4, 13-1 The Sun Conference) swept a doubleheader over #24 St. Thomas (23-13, 8-5 TSC) on Friday night at Paul Demie Mainieri Field.  The Sand Sharks won the first game 8-2 behind a five-hit complete game by starter John Gora (6-0).  St. Thomas tied the game 2-2 on a
Michael Centeno solo home run in the third. Â USCB then scored four runs in the eighth to take a 6-2 lead, then added two runs in the ninth.
In the second game, USCB used two home runs to march to a 7-0 lead. Â In the eighth inning,
Bryan Bermudez hit an RBI single to score Centeno and break the shutout. Â
Steven Fischer then drove in Bermudez on a fielder's choice for the Bobcats' second run.
Eric Torrente was outstanding in relief for tech Bobcats, allowing no runs on three hits in four innings pitched.
USCB's Jamie Strock (7-1) allowed one run over seven innings to earn the win. Â
The series concludes on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Paul Denie Mainieri Field.
