Lawrenceville, Ga. – St. Thomas (1-0) started the 2016 season with a big 3-1 win in its season opener at Georgia Gwinnett (0-1).Â

STU jumped out to a quick lead with an amazing strike from distance by
Sarah Lyppert Thomsson to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead in the 14
th minute.
Shortly after the goal, GGC was awarded a penalty kick off a corner kick. With all eyes on her early on in the game,
Cristina Garwacki came up with an amazing save to keep the lead for the Bobcats.Â
St. Thomas increased its lead in the 26
th minute with a

The Bobcats started off a little slow in the second half allowing the Grizzlies to get on the board for the first time in the 53
rd minute. St. Thomas came back by increasing the lead with another Thomsson goal in the 63
rd minute, her second of the match putting the Bobcats on top 3-1.

Garwacki came up big for the Bobcats with nine saves and only one goal allowed on 14 shots as the STU defense held off the Grizzlies.
