Box Score 2 MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – St. Thomas (3-0) swept Rio Grande (1-3) in three sets (25-13, 25-18, 25-20) to improve on a perfect start to the 2016 season for the Bobcats. Through three matches, STU has not lost a set this season.

Marisa Markus led the Bobcats with 12 kills and a .688 hitting percentage to go along with 10 digs and a block.Â
Carly Durr recorded eight kills, while
Whitney Battoe added six kills and two service aces.Â
Shanotta Bawek added five kills to go along with 10 digs.Â
Haley Bannister registered a team-best 11 digs and
Dana Nowaczyk tallied a game-high 16 assists.
STU jumped on Rio Grande early, winning the first set 25-13. Â Leading the second set 21-18, the Bobcats reeled off four consectuive points on two kills by Battoe and a kill by Markus. Â In the third set, the score was tied at 15-15 before two kills by Markus and a Red Storm attack error put the Bobcats ahead 18-15. Â The Bobcats maintained their lead as Durr added two more kills, one assisted by Priscilla Ertty and the other by Nowaczyk. Â Leading 24-20, Nowaczyk then set up Bawek for the match-winning kill.Â

Earlier in the day, St. Thomas swept Florida Memorial (25-16, 25-17, 25-22) in a match that the Bobcats controlled from start to finish.Â
