BOBCATS DEFEAT SEAHAWKS WITH AUTHORITY

West Palm Beach, Fla. – St. Thomas (1-3-1) took down Keiser University (2-3-0)  7-1 in strong fashion Wednesday afternoon.

It was a tale of two halves as STU started off the game slow and went into halftime down a goal.

The second half was a completely different story for the Bobcats as star of the match Artur Sharapov got his first of three brilliant strikes in the 49th minute to equalize the match at one a piece. The play developed off a Pablo Gill pass across the middle of the pitch to an open Sharapov who flicked it over the goalie.

STU continued to roll as Federico Moronell scored back-to-back goals in the 53rd and 64th minutes of the match. The first goal came off a pass from Tomas Greco, which was headed in by Moronell. The second goal came from a one touch Sharapov pass that Moronell drove in to the back on the net.

The Bobcats added their fourth goal off a combined assist from Gill and Greco to Harry Molyneux putting STU ahead 4-1. Sharapov got his second goal thanks to the nice footwork of Kris Wilkinson as he dribbled by defenders and passed to Sharapov for the fifth goal of the game for St. Thomas. Gill decided to take matters into his own hands as he intercepted a pass to get his first goal of the game and increase the lead for the Bobcats 6-1.

Sharapov completed his hat trick thanks to another marvelous set up from Gill who got his third assist of the match on the play.

The defense stayed firm after giving up the first goal, they only allowed 14 shots with eight on goal. Connor Christie added seven brilliant saves including an amazing save on a penatly shot in the 79th minute.

Next up for St. Thomas is a home match under the lights on Saturday, September 17 against Florida National University at 7 p.m.
