Box Score Savannah, Ga.- St. Thomas (2-4-1, 1-0 TSC) defeated SCAD (2-6-2, 0-1 TSC) 2-1 in an overtime thriller at the SCAD Athletic Complex. The matchup marked conference openers for both teams.
The Bobcats partook in what would become an intense overtime matchup against Savannah College. The Bees came up with an early start when they scored a goal at the 30th minute.
St. Thomas retaliated in the 82nd minute when
Tomas Greco had a shot off the post that fell to the feet of
Artur Sharapov who tapped it in to tie the game.
As the game progressed, regulation time ended in a 1-1 tie, taking the game to a golden goal over time. SCAD committed a foul on the Bobcats in dangerous scoring territory leaving St. Thomas an opportunity to win the game.
Pablo Gill came up to kick and scored a 20 yard free kick over the wall of defenders in extra time with one minute left, which the led STU to their first conference victory.
Next up for the Bobcats is an away conference game against Thomas University on Sunday, September 25 at 3:30 p.m. at the TU Soccer Complex.
