TROTMAN SHINES IN FIRST GAME, BOBCATS WIN TWO STRAIGHT

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.- St. Thomas (13-6, 4-3 TSC) overwhelmed Webber International (7-13, 2-7 TSC) on Thursday night in a Sun Conference battle at the Fernandez Family Center, winning by a final score of 90-79.

With an intense crowd, this game was as electric as can be as the Bobcats looked to take down the Warriors for the second time this season.

It was a tough first seven minutes for STU as foul trouble became an issue early for Raheem Bowman and Mikon Hewitt, which gave way for the bench players. With the score having been tied a total of six times in the first, the Warriors were truly not letting up, giving the Bobcats a tight game.

With just 2:43 left in the first half, St. Thomas went on a 9-1 scoring run to bring the score to 45-37, which gave them a solid lead going in to the locker room.

The second half was all STU as Webber was outscored 45-42, with the Bobcats holding off another conference opponent to get their second win in a row in both conference and regular league play.

Leading the way for the Bobcats was Armand Shoon with 21 points. Kristers Zeidaks trailed closely behind him with 16 points and seven rebounds. Even with that it seemed to be the night of Darwin Trotman, who played his first game of the season for St. Thomas, zooming past defenders to score 12 points and dish out five assists. Mikhail Rolle finished with 12 points and Tyrone Haughton continued with his dominating defensive force, blocking a game high six shots.

Next up for the Bobcats is an away game on Saturday, January 21 at 4 p.m. against conference opponents Keiser University.
