CHAMPIONS! BOBCATS WIN TSC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP!

MIAMI GARDENS Fla. - St. Thomas (12-1-1) defeated Keiser (8-5-1) 1-0 to win The Sun Conference Tournament championship on Friday night at Bobcat Field.  With the win, the Bobcats swept both the regular season and conference tournament championships with a perfect record in league play.

With the win, St. Thomas earns an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships which begins with the Opening Round on Saturday, Nov. 18.

It marked the second straight season that the Bobcats, under the direction of Sun Conference Coach of the Year Felix Mats, have won the Sun Conference Tournament Championship.  STU has now won three Sun Conference Tournament Championships in school history, all under Mats.

Sun Conference Player of the Year Federico Moronell scored the game's lone goal in the fourth minute on an assist by Tomas Greco.  It marked the team-best 16th goal of the year for Moronell and the seventh assist of the season for Greco.

Goalkeeper Connor Christie, The Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Year, earned the shutout in the net for the Bobcats.  The starting defense of Spiridon Karidis, Harry Molyneux, Santeri Bergman, and Christian Giraldo kept the Seahawks scoreless for the match, marking the eighth overall shutout of the season for the Bobcat defense.

STU's dominance in conference play was staggering all season.  Including the 1-0 win in the championship final, the Bobcats outscored Sun Conference opponents by a whopping 39-3 goal differential.  St. Thomas ran through the Sun Conference regular season with a perfect 9-0 record, then won both its conference tournament matches with a 3-0 shutout over SCAD-Savannah followed by the 1-0 win over Keiser in the finals.

The Bobcats now turns their attention to the NAIA National Championships where STU is headed for the second straight season and the third time in school history.
