WALK OFF, EXTRA-INNING WIN BY BOBCATS

CLERMONT, Fla. – A walk-off, extra-inning win by St. Thomas over Mount Vernon Nazarene was the highlight of Tuesday's action at the National Training Center.

STU trailed 5-2 entering the bottom of the seventh, then scored three runs in that frame to force extra innings.  Alysha Coyle singled, Gigi Santos drew a hit-by-pitch and Alexis Castroman hit a single to key the comeback.  McKenna Delaware then hit a sacrifice fly to right field and on the play an error allowed Castroman to go for home.  Castroman beat the throw to home to tie the score and send the game to the eighth inning.

In the top of the eighth inning, MVNU scored a run which forced the Bobcats to once again come from behind.  In the bottom of the eighth, Michelle Murch was placed on second base as the automatic runner.  Melody Grafals then drew a walk.  After a passed ball, Murch was caught in a rundown between third and home but was hit by an errant throw allowing her to score.  Kaitlin O'Hara then hit an RBI-single to score Grafals to give the Bobcats the dramatic 7-6 walk-off win.

In the second game of the day, the Bobcats fell to Tiffin 9-0.

The Bobcats now have two days off as they travel to Alabama for the Gulf Shores Invitational which begins Friday.
