TWO HOMERS ON SENIOR NIGHT FOR FINAL HOME GAME OF SEASON

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.- Senior night took center stage of the midweek ballgame on Tuesday night at Paul Demie Mainieri Field, as nine seniors were honored for their careers at St. Thomas, along with head of baseball operations Jon Leatherman and play-by-play broadcaster Troy Valeriano who were also celebrated.

Amongst the seniors, eight of the nine played on the night: Michael Centeno, Orlando Rivera, Andrew Denis, David Palenzuela, German Morales, Kendrick Gutierrez, Devon Stubbings and Brandon Valentin.  In addition, senior starting pitcher Kenny Roder did not play in anticipation of his next start.

Big congratulations to all the players on the team for an amazing season as the Bobcats close out the season 18-9 on home turf.

Palm Beach Atlantic (26-18) took down St. Thomas (34-15) by a final score of 5-4 just as the Bobcats looked to complete the rally in the ninth inning.

It didn't take long for St. Thomas to get on the board as the first inning brought a thunderous statement from junior Randy Oliva. Rivera singled to get on the bag and shortly after that Oliva was at the plate, preparing to hit his seventh home run of the season, a no doubter to left field.

Two innings later the Bobcats struck again, in the form of yet another homer. With nobody on and two outs in the books, the bottom of the third brought a goner from senior Centeno. Stepping up to bat, the senior knew this was his last game at Paul Demie Mainieri Field. Without hesitation, he ripped the first pitch that was thrown to left field in what would be his 16th and final home run on STU grounds, which would lift the Bobcats to a 3-0 lead.

On the mound, the Bobcats held PBA scoreless for seven innings, using seven different pitchers beginning with starter Rene Arauz.  In the first seven innings, the Bobcat hurlers struck out seven Sailfish and allowed just four hits.

Next up for the Bobcats is the final game of the regular season against #5 Keiser University on Tuesday, April 26 at 3 p.m. in West Palm Beach, Fla.
