MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Six different Bobcats scored in double figures as St. Thomas (10-5) blew out Olivet Nazarene (7-9) 101-77 on Tuesday night at the Fernandez Family Center. The Bobcats shot a phenomenal 66% from the field and 58% from beyond the arc in the resounding win over the Tigers.
Timothy Sada led all scorers with 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc, including a sequence where he hit four consecutive three-pointers in the first half to put the game out of reach early. Tyrik Waite scored 16 points on a perfect 6-of-6 night from the floor, including conversions on both of his two three-point attempts. Khalil Williams scored 12 points and also was a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor.
Raheem Bowman led the Bobcats on the boards with eight rebounds while scoring 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting.
Fotios Malelis and
Mikhail Rolle also scored in double figures with 13 and 10 points respectively.
Darwin Trotman led all players in the assist category dishing out 11 to go along with seven points on 3-of-3 shooting.
Mikon Hewitt chipped in with five assists as well.
The Bobcats took control of the game early and outscored the Tigers 47-25 in the first half. Sada led all scorers with 15 points in the opening stanza, while Williams did all his scoring in the first half.
Throughout the game, the St. Thomas defense stifled the Tigers forcing 21 turnovers, while holding ONU to 41% shooting for the contest and 33% shooting in the first half. STU blocked five shots led by Bowman and Adam McNeil who each swatted away two ONU shot attempts.
St. Thomas returns to action with Sun Conference action on Thursday on the road at Webber International in Babson Park. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
