#25 STU BOUNCES BACK WITH DOMINANT WIN OVER UMFK

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – #25 St. Thomas University Men's Basketball team (2-4) bounced back in the second-half of the home-and-home and easily defeated University of Maine, Fort Kent (2-8) 88-66 on Saturday afternoon from the Fernandez Family Center.

St. Thomas opened the game with a 7-0 run following consecutive three-point buckets by Amir Hill and Antoine Joe just a minute into the game. STU built a double-digit lead over UMFK in less than seven minutes at 20-9, following a Fotios Malelis jumper.

The Bobcats continued their dominance over the Bengals and increased their lead to fourteen, following a Nick Strawter three-point basket, to extend their lead to 32-18, which kicked off a 10-0 run late in the half. The run was capped off by Malelis, as he knocked in a three-point bucket of his own to put STU up by 21, at 39-18. St. Thomas went into the halftime break, leading by 17 at 46-29.

In the second half, the Bobcats maintained their double digit lead, as the Bengals could only cut the deficit to 12-points. Aaron Dutcher rattled off four-consecutive points as the forward put the Bobcats up by 17, with under 15-minutes remaining in the half. Strawter added two more of his eight points, midway through the second half, to put St. Thomas up by twenty-one points at 61-40. STU did not have to stress the remainder of the half, or game as they built the lead up to 28-points with six minutes remaining.

Justin Brown threw down an impressive dunk to seal the game late in the second half and put STU up 78-51 and fired the crowd-up, following an assist from Daejour Adderley. STU cruised to the finish line as the clock hit zeroes, with a 22-point lead, at 88-66 to earn their second win of the season.

St. Thomas University returns to action against the College of Coastal Georgia as Sun Conference play resumes from the Fernandez Family Center with the game set to tip-off at 7:30 p.m. following the Women's Basketball game against CCG, which begins at 5:30 p.m.
