STU LOSES TSC GAME VS CCGA

MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. - St. Thomas University's Men's Basketball team (2-5, 1-1 TSC) fell in Sun Conference play against the Mariners from the College of Coastal Georgia (7-4, 3-0 TSC) on Thursday evening from the Fernandez Family Center.

STU found themselves trailing CCGA 0-5 early in the first half and needing a spark, as Justin Brown provided that much needed high energy off the bench. Brown scoring four consecutive points, to tie the game at 5-5. The Bobcats battled throughout the remainder of the half against the Mariners, as Brown once again kept St. Thomas in the game, getting the benefit of a defensive goal-tending violation and added a free throw to send the teams into the half with STU trailing, 23-27.

In a scrappy second-half, the Bobcats clawed their way back and built a lead over the Mariners in less than five minutes, as Antoine Joe nailed all three free throw attempts to give STU a 35-32 lead. Coastal Georgia rallied to re-claim the lead and never looked back, building their lead to as much as 15-points to beat the Bobcats in an early season Sun Conference game.

Up next, St. Thomas will take on Thomas University on Saturday, December 1st as Sun Conference play resumes from the FFC, with tip-off scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
