Box Score NORTH MIAMI - 10th ranked St. Thomas (18-6, 11-2 TSC) was upset by host Johnson & Wales (7-17, 5-9 TSC) 84-81 Thursday night snapping STU's nine-game win streak.
Khalil Williams led the Bobcats with 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field.
Raheem Bowman recorded another double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Tim Sada registered 11 points and made two three-pointers and Tyrik Waite also scored in double figures with 10 points.
Mikon Hewitt tallied a team-high six assists.
But it was not enough for the Bobcats who fell behind in the second half, trailing by as many as 11 points.
The two teams played evenly in the first half with the host Wildcats taking a 48-47 lead into the break. Williams led the way for STU in the opening half, scoring 13 points on perfect 5-of-5 shooting from the field.
The second half saw the lead see-saw back and forth culminating with a tie score at 64-64 following a layup by Williams off an an assist by Hewitt.
With just under 12 minutes to play, The Wildcats then rattled off an 11-0 run to build their largest lead of the night.
The Bobcats battled back and found themselves down 84-77 with 30 seconds to play as Sada was fouled taking a three-pointer. Â Sada sank all three free throws to cut the lead to four. Â
Following an empty possession by JWU, Bowman then was fouled after an offensive rebound and hit a free throw to cut the lead to three. Â A missed free throw by the Wildcats gave STU one last possession to tie the game in regulation, however JWU held on to win.
St. Thomas returns to action vs. Keiser on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Fernandez Family Center. Â The winner of Saturday's game will have sole possession of first place in The Sun Conference.
