2017-18 Season Highlights:
***
Sarah Bomkamp and
Susana Gutierrez become the first Women's Cross Country runners from St. Thomas University to qualify for the NAIA National Championships since 2003.
*** The STU Volleyball team won its fifth Sun Conference regular-season championship in school history and the first championship for the Bobcats since 2014. The Bobcats went 15-1 in regular-season conference play and started league play with a 12-0 record.
***The STU Women's Soccer team went 8-2 in regular-season Sun Conference play. Overall in the regular season, the Bobcats outscored opponents 45-7 with nine shutouts in 14 matches. STU clinched the third seed for the conference tournament and defeated Thomas Univ. 3-1 in the conference quarterfinals.
***The STU Men's Soccer team won The Sun Conference Tournament Championship for the second straight season. The Bobcats ran through the Sun Conference regular season with a perfect 9-0 record, then won both its conference tournament conference matches. STU outscored Sun Conference opponents by a whopping 39-3 goal differential. The Bobcats then won an NAIA Opening Round game for the first time in school history with a 2-0 victory over Truett-McConnell to advance to the second round of the NAIA Championships.

Santeri Bergman of STU Men's Soccer was named a CoSIDA Academic All-American Second-Team performer.
***
Federico Moronell of STU Men's Soccer was named the NAIA National Player of the Week for the week ending September 4, 2017. Two Bobcats –
Federico Moronell and
Tomas Greco – were named First-Team All-Americans.
***The STU Men's Soccer team had nine NAIA Scholar-Athletes, the most Scholar-Athletes of any school in the country.
***STU's three fall team sports – Volleyball, Men's Soccer and Women's Soccer – opened conference play with a combined 17-0 record through Oct. 13.Â
***
Daniel Gonzalez of STU Men's Golf won the Individual Championship at the Start 2 Finish Classic in Lake Wales on Feb. 26, 2018. In fall competition, STU's
Juan Pablo Arrazola won the individual title at the Webber Fall Classic on Oct. 16, 2017.
***The STU Men's Basketball team earned a no. 2 seed at the NAIA National Championships, advancing to the second round of the national tournament for the fourth time in school history with a 79-77 win over Michigan-Dearborn. The Bobcats won the Sun Conference regular season with a 16-2 record in league play.
***Senior shooting guard Tim Sada of STU Men's Basketball broke the school record for career three-pointers finishing with a career total of 280 3PM. Sada also joined the exclusive 1,000-point scoring club at STU with a career 1,251 points.
***The STU Women's Basketball team went 16-2 in conference play with the only two losses coming to Southeastern, the number one ranked team in the nation. Â Â The Bobcats qualified for the national tournament where they fell just short of a first-round win in a nail biter against fifth ranked Marian.
***
Samara Auguste and
Katie Rienas of STU Women's Basketball each became members of the 1,000 career point club. Auguste heads into her senior year with 1,079 career points. Rienas finished her career at STU with 1,107 points in a Bobcat uniform. Auguste ranked number two in the nation in total steals (116) in 2017-18.
***The St. Thomas Men's and Women's Track & Field program completed its inaugural season. The Bobcat women's team finished fourth out of nine teams at The Sun Conference Championships. The men's team placed sixth out of nine teams.Â
Julian Pita (long jump) won the first individual conference championship in school history.
***The STU Men's and Women's tennis teams each clinched a spot in the semifinals of The Sun Conference Championship tournament. The Bobcats swept the sport's Champions of Character awards for The Sun Conference as
Cassandra Lemieux won the women's award and
Mauricio Fernandez won the men's award.
***STU Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach
Bruce Carrington was honored by the City of Miami for his lifetime work in the community. The City of Miami declared March 22 as
Bruce Carrington Day as a tribute for his tremendous accomplishments as a tennis coach and his impactful contributions in the community.
***
Michelle Murch of STU Softball won The Sun Conference Champions of Character award. This Summer, Murch will represent the United States as a student-athlete representative at the International University Sports Federation Forum to be held in Russia.Â
 ***Head Coach
Jorge Perez was selected as an Assistant Coach for the United States Collegiate National Team. Perez and Team USA this summer are on a tour of games vs. international competition.
***The STU Baseball team broke the school record for most regular season wins with 48 and overall wins in a season with 56. The Bobcats also broke the school record for highest winning percentage (.862). STU won the regular season Sun Conference championship with a 22-2 record in league play. The Bobcats then went on to play in the NAIA National Championship Round, sweeping three games to win the Hattiesburg Bracket. The Bobcats then advanced to the NAIA World Series for the sixth time in school history and the first time since 2015.
***The Bobcats had three players –
Elih Marrero,
Nelson Mompierre and
Orlando Rodriguez – selected as First-Team NAIA All-Americans, the most of any school. It marked the first time in school history that three STU players were selected to the First Team in the same season. In addition, STU's
Jackie Urbaez has been named a Second-Team All-American giving the Bobcats a grand total of four players selected to the NAIA All-American teams. The three First-Team All-American selections and the four total All-Americans were the most of any school in the NAIA in 2018.
***Two STU players were selected in the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft.Â
Elih Marrero was selected in the eighth round by the Boston Red Sox.Â
Nelson Mompierre was picked 29th by the New York Mets. In addition,
Erne Valdes was Free Agent Signee by the Texas Rangers.
***STU's Athletic Department administration swept the Sun Conference administrator awards as
Laura Courtley-Todd was named Sun Conference Athletic Director of the Year and Phil de Montmollin was named Sun Conference Sports Information Director of the Year.
