BOBCATS FALTER VS #5 FIRE, WINNING STREAK SNAPPED AT 11

Lakeland, Fla (January 10th, 2019) – St. Thomas University Women's Basketball team (14-5, 6-2 TSC) halted their 11-game winning streak, against the fifth-ranked Southeastern University Fire (15-2, 8-0 TSC) on Thursday evening from the "Furnace" on the SEU campus.

Game Notes
  • STU began the game with an early 3-0 lead over #5 SEU, as Samara Auguste opened the scoring with a three-pointer.
  • The Fire responded with a 9-0 run to head into the first quarter media timeout leading 9-3.
  • St. Thomas cut the Southeastern lead to just two points, at 9-7, as Anari Dozier made both attempts from the free throw line.
  • STU finished the first quarter trailing SEU 12-9.
  • Keiana Brooks gave the Bobcats their first lead since the opening minutes by draining a three-point bucket to put STU ahead 16-15 in the second quarter.
  • Southeastern briefly reclaimed the lead, adding a three-point bucket of their own, before a 12-0 Bobcat run gave STU their largest lead of the game.
  • Ebony Griffin capped off the run with a lay-up to push the Bobcat lead to ten, 28-18.
  • The run was enough to send the teams into the halftime break with STU leading #5 SEU by five, 32-27
  • STU outscored #5 SEU, 23-15 in the second quarter.
  • Southeastern came out of halftime and took back the lead, outscoring the Bobcats 23-14 following halftime
  • Griffin once again brought the Bobcats within two of Southeastern, but the Fire maintained their advantage and finished the game with a victory, defeating the Bobcats 69-57.
