2019 RUN COMES TO AN END FOR THE BOBCATS

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (November 12, 2019) – The fourth-seeded St. Thomas University Women's Soccer Team (10-6-1, 6-3-1 TSC) season came to an end on Tuesday afternoon from Arrigo-Vecellio Field against the first seeded Keiser University Seahawks (18-1-0, 10-0-0 TSC). After a tough fought battle, the Bobcats fell short 6-1 in the Sun Conference Semifinals.
 
Bobcat Starters:  
Game Notes:
  • Lefebvre got her 17th straight start in the net for the Bobcats.
  • Keiser started out attacking very early, getting their first goal within the first ten minutes of the match.
  • The Seahawks took a 2-0 lead into the half, scoring their second goal in the 31st minute.
  • KU would go on and score four more goals to take a solid 6-0 lead with two-minutes left in the match.
  • Senior, Sandy Benito, was able to put one in the back of the net in her final minutes of her STU career.
  • Benito collected a loose ball and fired a left-foot strike to the far post.
 
Season Highlights:
  • The Bobcats end the season with a .618 win percentage.
  • STU outscored opponents 48-27 on the year.
  • Benito led the team with eight-goals, accumulating 17-points on the year.
  • Jüllich led the team with 20-points, six-goals and eight-assists.
  • STU took the no. 1 Seahawks and no. 4 ranked Southeastern University Fire to the wire.
  • Both games St. Thomas scored first and were able to hold leads against the top ranked contenders.
  • The SEU game even moved into overtime to determine a winner.
  • One final congratulations to Clark on receiving Sun Conference Second-Team All-Conference honors.
  • St. Thomas Athletics would like to thank the three seniors, Sandy Benito, Iona Rothfeld, and Whitney Clark for their time and efforts to the women's soccer program.
