MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (December 14, 2019) - St. Thomas University (STU) Bobcats Men's Basketball team (5-2) defeated crosstown opponent, Florida National University Conquistadors (9-6) in non-conference action 82-72 on Saturday afternoon from the Fernandez Family Center.

Game Notes
  • After five missed shots to open the game, Floyd finally got STU on the board, scoring on a tip-in.
  • Following the initial make, St. Thomas ran-off a 9-0 run. Brown added two points on a dunk, while Gilbert recorded five consecutive points to force a Conquistadors timeout.
  • Back-to-back three-pointers from FNU brought the score within five, 11-6.
  • Six straight points from the Bobcats, pushed the lead to 19-11; Antoine Joe got on the board and Gilbert had consecutive baskets.
  • Quinterious Jones scored four straight points for St. Thomas, extending the STU lead to 35-23.
  • Gilbert closed the first half, with a buzzer-beating three-pointer, which gave St. Thomas a 38-28.

  • Jones finished a mammoth slam, extending the Bobcats advantage to 73-49.
  • Florida National was only able to get within ten-points, before time expired, as St. Thomas extended their winning streak to three games.
