RED HOT BOBCATS ON AN EIGHT GAME WINNING STREAK

CLERMONT, FLA. (March 2nd, 2019) – The St. Thomas University's softball team (10-2) sweeps another day at the PFX Spring Games defeating Cornerstone University (0-3) in game one in run rule fashion, in six innings, with a final score of 8-0. Then defeating Trinity International University (1-3) 2-0 in game two. All on Saturday morning from the Legends Way Ballfields at the National Training Center.

Game One Notes

  • Bobcats threatened early in the game as they saw themselves with bases-loaded in the top half of the first.
  • In the second inning, STU was able to score the first run of the ballgame as Colon drew a walk to start the innings.
  • Castroman moved her over on sacrifice bunt.
  • Grafals came up delivered the first RBI of the game as she brought home Colon and took at 1-0 lead.
  • The top of the third saw the Bobcats extend their lead as Delaware and Sands led off with back-to-back singles.
  • The double-steal from Delaware and Sands put STU into scoring position.
  • With two-outs in the inning STU rallied for three-runs.
  • Colon drove a single to left field and drove in two-runs, she then advanced to third on an error by the left fielder.
  • Castroman reached on an error by the first baseman which ended up driving in Colon from third to cap off the inning.
  • STU scratched for one in the fifth as Ehrenthal led off with a single to right field. Then moved to second on an E. Santos sacrifice bunt and scored on an error by the catcher.
  • The Bobcats put the run-rule in motion when the scored three in the sixth to make the game 8-0.
  • Grafals started the rally with a monstrous solo shot to left-center for her second home run of the season.
  • G. Santos made her way on with a base on balls and then stole second to put herself in scoring position.
  • Delaware singled to center field to make her way on with no outs in the inning.
  • Ehrenthal came in ready to deliver as she drove a ball up the middle to score G. Santos from second base and moving Delaware over to third.
  • A single through the right side off the bat of E. Santos drove in Delaware to finish the three-run half.
  • The game concluded in the sixth inning as the Bobcats run-ruled the Golden Eagles to end the game early.

Game Two Notes
  • The Bobcats started right where they left off as Ehrenthal singled down the left field line, Delaware walked, and Sands singled to load them up in the bottom half of the first but left them stranded there.
  • STU got on board in the bottom half of the second as E. Santos and Colon singled to stir the pot.
  • Pla reached on a fielder's choice then drew attention from the fielders to enable E. Santos to score and take the 1-0 lead.
  • Acevedo retired 12 batters in a row, allowing the first hit and first base runner in the top of the fifth.
  • The bottom of the fifth saw the Bobcats score an insurance run to make it 2-0.
  • Descheene singled to right field and advanced on a passed ball to move into scoring position.
  • Grafals laid down a sacrifice bunt to move her to third, where Ehrenthal reached on an infield single to drive her in.
  • Acevedo went on to close the game getting the last out and pitching out of a bases-loaded jam.
Box Score Notable
  • Acevedo threw a perfect four innings as she goes back-to-back outings flirting with a perfect game.
  • Bobcats defense played perfectly in the double-header sweep not recording an error.
  • Delaware highlighted the defense playing a part in nine of the 21 outs.
