WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (August 15
th, 2019) – St. Thomas University Volleyball (0-1) lost in the 2019 season opener to No. 22 Bellevue University (2-0) on Thursday evening from the Countess de Hoernle Student Life Center from the campus of Keiser University. STU fell in straight sets (23-25, 13-25 and 21-25) to the nationally ranked Bruins.

Game Notes
- In the first set of the season, STU went back-and-forth with No.22 BU, as the set included five lead changes within the first 19 points, putting the score at 10-9 in favor of St. Thomas.
- The Bobcats rallied for three straight points, being led by a Bolinger kill to put the score at 12-11.
- STU built their biggest lead of the match, four points, following a Lucia Alvarez service ace to give St. Thomas a 17-13 advantage.
- Back-to-back kills by Bolinger and Sofia Adorno put the Bobcats ahead 21-19 late in the first set and forced Bellevue to use a timeout.
- Two consecutive errors by STU gave #22 BU the first set victory, losing 23-25.
- St. Thomas lost the second set 13-25. Bolinger recorded two kills and the defense combined for two blocks.
- STU opened the third set with a service ace by freshman, Kyleigh Beechum and took a 2-0 advantage following a Bruin error.
- Another aggressive attack by Bolinger gave STU an 11-10 lead, as the sophomore registered another kill, as part of her eight on the evening.
- Bellevue recorded six straight points, making the score 15-21 and STU used two timeouts.
- St. Thomas ultimately lost the third set, falling in straights and losing the season opening contest, 21-25.

St. Thomas University has a quick turnaround, returning to the hardwood at the Countess de Hoernle Student Life Center at Keiser University, at 8:00 a.m. to take on (RV) Madonna University as part of a tri-match day on Friday, August 16
th. STU also takes on Columbia International University and the Saint Louis College of Pharmacy, with matches scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., respectively.
