COLLAZO KEEPS #13 STU UNDEFEATED START ALIVE

Box Score TEMPLE TERRACE, FLA. (September 26, 2019) – The 13th ranked St. Thomas University Men's Soccer team (6-0) took on Florida College (3-4) in a mid-week non-conference matchup on Thursday evening. The Bobcats continued their undefeated, historical season with a 3-2 victory over the Falcons.

Game Notes
  • Gaster, Emiliani, Cicerri, Roberts, Stoffle, and Moreira all made their Bobcat debut tonight.
  • STU had a different start than usual as Florida College got on top in the early fifth minute.
  • The Bobcats quickly got on the board as Moreira scored his first goal on the squad. The goal was a one touch left footer to the backside in the six-yard box off a cross from Roberts.
  • Florida College remained with most of the possession in the first half and capped it off with a goal in the 43rd minute, taking a 2-1 lead into the half.
  • Fresh pairs of legs came in for the Bobcats in the second half to try and boost some spark in keeping the undefeated season alive.
  • The defensive line mixed up as Harry Molyneux, Romario Atkinson, Oliver Noevik, George Koutsopodiotis, and keeper Franco Acerbi all came in.
  • Up top got a shake up with forwards Pablo Gil and Mads Rismoen checking in. Midfielders Joaquin Domber and Juan Manuel Collazo checked in as well to get the Bobcats going.
  • The fresh legs seemed to make the difference as the possession shifted quickly in favor of the Bobcats.
  • Goal number two for St. Thomas came off a beautiful setup from Noevik who sent it down the field, Rismoen gave it a little head tap into the 18-yard box, where Pablo Gil toe tapped it into the back of the net.
  • A solid defensive line gave STU the chance to secure the final goal that would keep the undefeated season alive.
  • After a rough foul from the Falcons led to a free-kick about 40-yards out, the Gil brothers worked their magic with Santiago actually taking the kick and putting it into the box for Collazo to finish the job with a flick passed the goalkeeper to solidify the game in the 77th minute.

  • P. Gil leads the team in goals with five, on pace to beat his career-high of eight.

  • Thirteenth ranked St. Thomas begins conference play with the Sun Conference 'Game of the Week' against no. 16 Southeastern University (Fla.) in Lakeland, Fla. The game is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. start time.
