BOBCATS HEAD BACK TO TSC TITLE GAME WITH SHUTOUT OVER FIRE

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla- (November 17, 2020) - Second-seeded St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Soccer (10-3) defeated third-seed Southeastern University (10-6) 2-0 in the Sun Conference Semi-finals on Tuesday evening from Bobcat Field.

Before the game, St. Thomas University Athletics honored the 2020 senior class in a pre-game ceremony. The senior class includes Michael Marx, George Koutsopodiotis, Hugo Baptiste, Oliver Noevik, Luis Stalin-Munoz, Pablo Gil-Martinez, Mads Rismoen, Federico Zanna, Federico Landaburu, Niccolo Ciceri, Josh Womack, and Stephon Gilzene.

  • The first-half featured a back-and-forth stalemate between the Bobcats and Fire.
  • Landaburu attempted to put the Bobcats on the board in the 29th minute but was unsuccessful.
  • Domber then tried a shot in the 30th minute, aiming high. 
  • Bobcats dominated possession time in the first half. 
  • The game remained deadlocked until the 59th minute when Mark Oghogho broke the tie with a goal from the right side of the box. 
  • Arzeno was able to extend the Bobcats lead in the 68th minute, recording his 10th goal of the season, as STU took a 2-0 lead.
  • The St. Thomas defense continued to stifle the Fire offense for the remainder of the match.
  • The win advances the Bobcats to the team's first Sun Conference Championship game since the 2017 season. 
  • STU won the Sun Conference tournament championship in back-to-back seasons (2016-17) and advanced to the title game for the third time in five seasons.
