PACE LEADS BOBCAT COMEBACK WITH SECOND HALF SURGE

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (November 19, 2020) - St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball (2-2, 2-1 TSC) took on Warner University (3-2, 0-1 TSC) on Thursday evening from the Fernandez Family Center in Sun Conference action.

  • STU was able to get on the board first, as Jones won the opening tip-off and scored on a lay-up.
  • Warner quickly responded with a three-point bucket, taking their first lead of the game. 
  • Three minutes into the game, WU led 7-3, but a Joe jumper cut the deficit in half.
  • Jones was able to tie the game at 7-7 at the 15-minute mark.
  • Pace knocked down a three-pointer to put STU back in the lead, 11-10.
  • The Royals scored eight unanswered points, taking an 18-11 lead. Richmond recorded a corner three-pointer to bring STU within four, 18-14.
  • Warner added a three-point make of their own, taking a 26-17 lead, which was the largest of the first half for the Royals.
  • Seven Ferguson's first collegiate points started a 9-2 run for STU, capped off by a dunk from Ray.
  • WU went into the halftime break leading 30-26.
  • Warner extended its lead to double-digits in the early minutes of the second half, as STU trailed 39-28.
  • Ellington attempted to bring the Bobcats back in the Sun Conference match-up, scoring four consecutive points to put the score at 39-32.
  • At the half-way point of the second half, the Royals took their largest lead of the game, 47-34.
  • An 8-2 STU run, led by five from Jones and a Magd Abdelwahab three-pointer, put the score at 49-42.
  • Ray notched two consecutive lay-ups, and Pace knocked down the game-tying three-pointer to knot the game at 53-53 with two minutes remaining.
  • Pace sealed the STU Sun Conference victory with 10 consecutive points, putting STU ahead 61-53.
  • Ray, in his first collegiate start, recorded his first career double-double (11-points, 14-rebounds)
