STRAWTER SPARKS BOBCATS TO THIRD CONSECUTIVE WIN

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (February 15, 2020) - St.  Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball (18-5, 11-5 TSC) extended their winning streak to three games on Saturday afternoon, by defeating the College of Coastal Georgia Mariners (13-15, 6-10 TSC) 84-77 from the Fernandez Family Center.

Game Notes

  • St. Thomas opened the game with a 6-0 run, as Jones and Brown registed all six points.
  • CCGA scored seven unanswered, before Jones netted a lay-up to give STU the 8-7 lead.
  • Gilbert scored four consecutive points, extending the Bobcat advantage to 15-7.
  • Midway through the first half, Floyd connected on a lay-up, pushing the STU lead to 20-9.
  • With five minutes remaining in the opening half, Coastal Georgia cut the Bobcat advantage to 27-22.
  • Nick Strawter sank a three-pointer, which extended the lead to double-digits, 32-22.
  • The two Sun Conference teams went into the halftime break with St. Thomas in the lead 41-32.
  • Strawter recorded five consecutive points in the second half, maintaining the double-digit lead, 46-36.
  • Halfway through the second half, CCGA tied the game 53-53.
  • Gilbert briefly took over for STU, scoring six consecutive points, and putting St. Thomas in front 61-57
  • Coastal could not cut the deficit to less than three as the Bobcats cruised to the Sun Conference win, 84-77.
