BOBCATS BEATEN BY NO. 9 SEAHAWKS

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (September 26, 2020) - St. Thomas University (STU) Football (0-2) was defeated by the No. 9 Keiser University Seahawks (3-0) 49-10 on Saturday afternoon from Monsignor Pace High School.

STU began the game by winning the coin toss and elected to receive, starting the game with the ball. Kalani Ilimaleota connected with Aarmando McGhee on the sidelines for a fourteen-yard completion, getting the Bobcats on the Keiser side of the field. Ilimaleota added three quarterback runs on the drive, totaling 20-yards. On second and eight from the Keiser-27, Ilimaleota tried to find Israel-Cooper in the end-zone, but the pass was intercepted on the one-yard line.

The Seahawks didn't let the poor field position impact them, completing a nine-play, 99-yard drive, capped off by a Burgress 20-yard touchdown run to take a 7-0 lead.

St. Thomas had two straight drives go three-and-out, as the game flipped to the second quarter. Keiser began their first drive in the second quarter at mid-field, needing only seven plays to score, capping off the drive with a 22-yard connection from Eli Mathews to Jerson Jacques in the back corner of the end zone. The Bobcats ran six consecutive plays in their response drive, however, only totaling 18-yards and being forced to punt again.

The Seahawks turned to Antoine Sims on their next drive, and he totaled 75-yards, including a 41-yard score to extend the lead to 21-0. STU totaled 17-yards on the next drive, being forced to punt once again. KU drove down the field, connecting on a four-yard pass, taking a 28-0 lead into the halftime break.

Shortly after the halftime break, KU scored once again, as Burgess added his second touchdown of the game from five yards out, leading 35-0. Tyler Thomas made his collegiate debut for St. Thomas, entering the game on the first Bobcat drive of the second half. Thomas led a 12-play, 52-yard drive, which ended with a field goal to get STU on the board.

The Seahawks scored on the first play of the fourth quarter, taking a 42-3 lead. On their next drive No. 9 KU once again scored, leading 49-3, following an 11-yard touchdown pass. Thomas led a 13-play drive, finding three different receivers, and capping the drive with a 14-yard passing touchdown to John Israel-Cooper for Israel-Cooper's first touchdown of season, after Thomas escaped two pass rushers.

Keiser ran the clock out on their final drive, ending the game with a 49-10 win over the Bobcats and sending STU to 0-2 on the season.
