#8 BOBCATS TAKE THE SUN GAME OF THE WEEK OVER (RV) FIRE

LAKELAND, Fla. (October 10, 2021) - The eighth ranked St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Soccer team (7-0-2, 3-0-1 SUN) defeated the receiving votes Southeastern University Fire (7-3-2, 1-2-1 SUN) in the SUn Conference Game of the Week on Wednesday afternoon. St. Thomas remains unbeaten and picks up another big league victory by a score of 4-2. The win takes STU onto a three game win streak.

Game Notes
  • Franco Acerbi improves to 6-0-2 on the season picking up another SUN win under his belt.
  • St. Thomas had full control of the first half applying the offensive pressure early.
  • Guido Cacciabue found the feet of Facundo Cisterna in the box as he dribbled from the right side to the left and took an angled shot that just slid under the keeper for the first goal of the match in the 22nd minute.
  • Just ten minutes later, Cacciabue found the back of the net himself to take an early 2-0 lead placing it perfectly out of the reach of the Fire keeper in the top right corner. 
  • Southeastern went back to the drawing board at halftime and was able to successfully execute as they tied the match at two with a goal in the 58th and 65th minute.
  • Both Fire goals were scored off the foot of Julian Hall.
  • St. Thomas was have a quick response and Mark Oghgho made his way into the contest to do what he does best and that is give the Bobcats a quick offense option at the top.
  • Oghogho fulfilled his task scoring what would end up being the game winning goal in the 66th minute.
  • Federico Landaburu sealed the deal in the 81st minute with a goal of his own, making it 4-2.
  • Cacciabue was involved in three of the four goals picking up four points in the contest.

St. Thomas will continue their road stint as they travel to Webber international University next Saturday, October 16 as Sun Conference play continues.
