#22 BOBCATS FALL TO WARRIORS IN OVERTIME

BABSON PARK, Fla. (October 7, 2021) – The 22nd ranked St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Soccer team (6-2-2, 1-1-1 SUN) lost their second Sun Conference play match against the Webber International University Warriors (8-0-1, 2-0-0 SUN) on Thursday, afternoon from the Warrior Grass Field.

  • The Warriors began the game with the ball and quickly loses it to St. Thomas University, allowing the Bobcats to take control.
  • The Bobcats took possession, but the Warriors did not allow them to take control in the middle of the field. Bobcats stays in possession of the ball as Miranda Ferradaz crosses the ball to goal in hopes to find a fellow Bobcat to secure a goal.
  • Katharina powers forward with the ball and kicks it to goal, but it was stopped by Warrior's goalie in the 6th-minute.
  • In the first half 8 shots were attempted to secure the lead for the Bobcats.
  • The first half ends and both teams have not yet put a score on the board. Both team head to the bench during halftime to discuss strategy as the they head into the second half.
  • Second half begins and the Bobcats are highly motivated and eager to put some numbers on the scoreboard. Both the Bobcats and Warriors were playing aggressive as they accumulated 15 fouls (combined) in the second half.
  • The Warriors gain possession after a corner kick by the Bobcats and advances forward into Bobcat territory. With no defenders present Warriors were able to make the first goal of the match in the 78th-minute.
  • With seven minutes left in the game the Warriors kicks the ball outside giving the Bobcats a corner kick. Ferradaz takes the corner kick and passes it Leonie Weide. Weide then forces a powerful shot into the right corner of the goal Scoring for the Bobcats, tying the game (1-1) and forcing the match to head into overtime.
  • Overtime begins and the Bobcats stays on defensive as the Warriors keep possession.
  • Foul called on St. Thomas University in the Bobcats box, unfortunately resulting in a penalty for the Warriors.
  • The Warriors takes the penalty kick and scores. Resulting in the Warriors to take the lead by one point (2-1) and end the match by "Golden Goal" standards in 93rd-minute.
