BOBCATS BASKETBALL CRUISES BY CONQUISTADORS

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (November 8, 2021) – The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball team (2-0) defeated the Florida National University Conquistadors (1-3) on Tuesday evening from the Fernandez Family Center. St. Thomas won each quarter throughout the game.

Game Notes
The first quarter was a lot of back and forth on the scoreboard. Patricia Martinez-Sanz would ultimately hit the three pointer that gave St. Thomas the lead after the quarter finished 12-11.
 
Florida National opened the second quarter on a 5-0 run to take the lead 16-12. Bria Brown came off the bench and made her splash on the offense draining a three to bring STU within one. After Gianni Domond hit a three pointer to tie it up at 18 all, FNU went on another 5-0 run to take a 23-18 lead. St. Thomas used the foul line and a 6-2 run to work their way back into it and take a 32-27 lead into the half.
 
The Bobcats settled in for the second half and continued to add distance with a big third quarter. The defense held the Conquistadors to just six points in the third outscoring them by 13. Brooke Bogatz led the way with six-points and two steals off the bench.
 
The fourth quarter was a full team effort as five Bobcats contributed to the scoreboard. St. Thomas also won the glass game recording 15 to Florida National's 11.

Patricia Martinez-Sanz led the way with 12-points, two steals, five rebounds.
Chrystal Pressley had a career-high 17-rebounds, 13 of which were defensive and added nine-points.
Brooke Bogatz pitched in off the bench with six-points, three steals, and five rebounds.
The defense held FNU to just 25.9% from the field.
St. Thomas took advantage off turnovers and score 22-points to FNU's 11.
STU's bench outscored FNU's 22-9.
The post presence was there as the Bobcats scored 34 points in the paint.
