MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (November 29, 2021) - The St. Thomas University Men's Basketball team (2-5, 0-3 SUN) battled a tough NCAA Division II in Barry University (6-0) on Monday night from the Fernandez Family Center Gym, but fell short 68-65.

The game was a slow start as the first bucket was not made until almost three minutes in the game.
Jonas Parker gave STU the 3-0 lead to start the game. Eight minutes into the game the offense started heating up as both teams started going back and forth on the board.
Barry was able to take a four point lead with eight minutes remaining in the first half going on a 6-0 run. Augustus Stone would tilt the board back in the Bobcats favor after hitting a jumper in the paint off a fast break that started with a steal from Will Brown III. After the jumper, STU would go on a 14-9 run to end the half with a four-point lead at 34-30.
As story book written, the Bobcats are known for coming out hot into the second half, and that what was they did. STU jumped out on an 11-0 run that gave them a 15-point lead with 16:03 left on the clock. After Barry scored their first bucket of the half, they went on a 20-5 run over a five minute span to tie the game up at 50 all with just under 11 minutes remaining.
A pair of free throws would give the Bucs their first lead since the 13th minute of the first half. The game would be tied once more at 52 all and that would be the final time the scoreboard flipped and Barry took the lead and held onto in. Missed free throws would be the downfall for the Bobcats and the Buccaneers would close out the game 68-65 as Stone hit the final layup with time winded down.
