MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (February 27, 2021) - St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Tennis (2-1, 1-1 TSC) completed a 4-3 upset over No. 21 Southeastern University (1-2) on Saturday evening.
Head Coach Matt Roche was excited following the Bobcats' upset win, saying, "this was a big foundational win for our program. Having Vanessa Centeno, a freshman, pull a pivotal win to clinch, highlights the upward trajectory of our program."
Singles
- Amber Patterson was defeated by Beatriec Letizia (6-4, 6-2).
- Annie Carrera earned a two-set win (6-3, 6-0) over Nadezda Bijelic.
- Lia Pena swept her match without dropping a point (6-0, 6-0) against Angelique Myrtil.
- Vanessa Centeno earned a clutch win in three sets (6-4, 3-6, 6-4) over Priscila Baptista.
- Sofia De La Fuente was defeated by Gabby Marshall (3-6, 1-6).
- Giovanna Paschoalin fell in two-set (3-6, 5-7) against Abigail Damon.
Doubles
- The duo of Pena/Carrera didn't drop a point, winning 6-0, against Letizia and Baptista.
- Skeene and Perez earned a 6-3 victory.
- Centeno and Patterson clinched the upset win with a 6-4 win over Bijelic and Damon.
