BOBCATS UPSET #5 ROADRUNNERS, ADVANCE TO OPENING ROUND FINALS

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. (April 22, 2021) - (RV) St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Soccer (12-5) upset No. 5 Dalton State University in the semi-final round of the NAIA Opening Round, advancing to the Lawrenceville Bracket Championship Game, with a 4-1 victory over the Roadrunners.

Game Notes

  • Domber capped off an aggressive attack by the Bobcats; finishing a goal, with an assist from Bode, to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute.
  • Domber found the back of the net after a cross from the right-side off of Bode's boot. 
  • Collazo missed an opportunity in the 29th minute, missing high over the net. 
  • The Bobcat defense limited DSC to just two shots in the first half.
  • Bode took two consecutive shots on goal and finished the second chance to extend the St. Thomas lead to 2-0. 
  • Landaburu added an assist, passing the ball from the center to the left side of the field as Bode finished the opportunity. 
  • STU added a third goal in the 76th minute, as Bolger put the score at 3-0. 
  • Stalin-Munoz found Bolger on a breakaway, and Bolger finished the scoring chance.
  • Tolcachier sealed the victory with an unassisted goal, beating the defender and putting the score at 4-0. 
  • Dalton State avoided a shutout with a goal in the 82nd minute. 
  • STU earned the program's second win against Dalton State in program history, the first since 2017. 
  • Acerbi totaled two saves in the win for STU.
