MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (April 3, 2021) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Flag Football team (5-5, 4-3 TSC) lost against the Webber International Warriors 33-12, on Saturday afternoon from Monsignor Edward Pace High School, in Sun Conference play.

STU began the game with possession and quickly converted a first down, as Jada Graham found Dejonice Parris for a 12-yard gain. Later on the opening drive, Graham connected with Kayla Alvarez to move STU to the Webber side of the field. Graham converted a fourth-down attempt by rushing for eight yards. St. Thomas couldn't score, as Graham was intercepted by the goal line, and the Warriors took over possession.

The Bobcat defense prevented the Warriors from converting a first down, as Kayla Alvarez and Mayerli Cayon forced pass break-ups.

St. Thomas opened the second quarter with the ball and on the Warrior's side of the field. Graham connected with Tyler Bryant for a 13-yard gain, putting the Bobcats on the WIU five-yard line. Graham scampered into the endzone from five yards out and scored the game's first points, as STU took a 6-0 lead. The Bobcat defense forced a Warrior punt, and St. Thomas re-claimed possession at the STU nine-yard line.

STU's offense only mustered 20-yards on the drive, and punted to WIU, as Webber took over at their own 35-yard line. In the closing minutes of the first half, WIU quarterback Sierra Harris connected with ReyGene Garner for a touchdown as time expired in the first half. WIU took a 7-6 lead into the halftime break.

Webber International maintained possession following halftime. Bryant intercepted Harris on the STU 33-yard line, getting the ball back for St. Thomas. Graham drove the Bobcats down the field as the freshman converted both a third-down and a fourth-down attempt. Graham was picked off once again inside the red zone, but WIU returned the interception the length of the field for a pick-six, and the Warriors took a 14-6 advantage.

The Bobcats took possession into the fourth quarter, trailing by a score.  WIU intercepted Graham for the third time, taking over on the STU side of the field. WIU padded its lead to 20-6, with a passing touchdown from Harris to Garner again.

Holly Nehar took over at quarterback for St. Thomas, and connected with Bryant on a 56-yard play, as Bryant broke free over the middle of the field. Nehar found Bryant in the end zone of a three-yard touchdown on a fade route, cutting the WIU lead to 20-13.

Webber added two more touchdowns in the final six minutes of the fourth quarter, including its second pick-six, as STU was defeated 33-12.
