MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (May 1, 2021) - St. Thomas University (STU) Softball concluded its 2021 season on Saturday afternoon, with a Sun Conference doubleheader against Keiser University. The Bobcats dropped game one, 4-1, and followed with a 5-4 victory in the season finale.
Before the game, St. Thomas University Athletics honored the 2021 senior class of Larisa Smits, Eliza Artiles, Rachael Samaniego, Lishanty Guillermo, Juliana Uribe, Bailey Williams, and Erica Winter. Thank you to the senior class for your dedication to the St. Thomas University Softball team!

- Keiser took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning. The Seahawks plated both runs with back-to-back RBI singles.
- The Bobcats quickly responded as Bautista opened the bottom of the second with a single.
- Bautista scored following a stolen base and a throwing error by KU, putting the score at 2-1.Â
- Smits sent the Seahawks down in order in the top of the third inning.
- KU plated its third run of the game in the top of the fourth, scoring with an RBI groundout.
- Abbigail Smith relieved Smits in the top of the fifth inning.
- The Seahawks extended their lead to 4-1 with another RBI groundout.
- STU threatened to cut into the deficit with an Artiles double to left-center field, but the senior was unable to score.
- The Bobcats dropped the opening game of the doubleheader after being sent down in order, ending the seventh inning.

- Making her final start at St. Thomas, Winter worked around two base runners to keep KU off the scoreboard in the first inning.
- The Bobcats got on the board first, with an RBI single from Gilbert, which scored Negron in the bottom of the first inning.Â
- Winter paired two strikeouts in the top of the second inning, alongside a Casanova throw out on a caught stealing, to preserve the STU lead.
- Descheene extended the Bobcats advantage with an RBI groundout, scoring Uribe.
- KU tied the game 2-2 with three consecutive singles in the top of the third inning.
- Keiser took the lead in the top of the fourth with an RBI triple.Â
- STU responded with a three-run bottom of the fourth inning, with Ochoa scoring on a sacrifice fly from Negron to put the score at 4-3.
- The Bobcats followed with the tying run, as Descheene scored on an error by KU.
- Gilbert added her second run-scoring hit with an RBI triple to right field, giving the Bobcats a 5-4 lead.
- Winter ended the season with a 1-2-3 inning for STU, with the final out of the game coming on a groundout to Artiles.
- St. Thomas ended the season with a 5-4 victory, and her 14th complete game of the season.Â
