STU SPLITS DAY TWO OF VOLLEYBALL INVITATIONAL

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (August 20, 2021) – St. Thomas University's (STU) Volleyball team split day two of the STU Invitational. The Bobcats played on court two from the Fernandez Family Center Gym. Match one went to the visiting no. 3 Warriors of Midland University by a final of 1-3 (25-21, 21-25, 18-25, 16-25). Match two worked in favor of St. Thomas as they bounced back to sweep Florida National University in straight sets (25-11, 34-32, 25-14).

  • Midland is currently ranked number three nation and are the 2020 NAIA National Runner-ups.
  • STU started off strong scoring four straight points forcing an early Warrior timeout.
  • St. Thomas hit an impressive .400 as a team while holding Midland to just a .233 hitting percentage.
  • Bobcats would take set one but ultimately fall in four sets.
  • Bolinger led the way for the Bobcats with 14-kills and six-digs.
  • The defense continued as STU out blocked MU 5-3.

  • St. Thomas would bounce back from their earlier defeat to sweep Florida National in three straight sets.
  • The second set was the highlight of the match as the back and forth battle that had the match tie thirteen times.
  • The Bobcat defense held Florida National to a .074 hitting percentage in the match, while the team hit .258.
  • Bolinger and Nunez-Casal had double-digit kills, 14 and 15, respectively.
  • Beecham led the way with 27-assists.
  • Fourteen different Bobcats saw action on the court.
