Game Notes
The Bobcats were off to a slow start but quickly turned it around as Bogatz caught the hot hand tonight. The sophomore had the first seven points for STU in helping to keep the game close. After being down 11, the Bobcats worked their way slowly chipping away and ending the quarter down just two points.
Kayla Rodriguez brought a spark off the bench and scored six-points.
Â
Rodriguez continued by tying the game up with the opening basket in the second quarter. This would be the turnaround quarter for St. Thomas. The team scored a game high 27-points in the quarter. The game went basket for basket for five minutes and eight seconds until
Samaria August's three pointer started a 16-2 run that ran into halftime. St. Thomas took a 14-point advantage to the break at 44-30. The defense held the Royals to just two points over five-minutes.
Â
Kasey Gagan kept the offense rolling into the third quarter scoring the opening basket and shortly after recording an and-one to make it a 21-point game. The Royals tried to chip away at the lead, but the Bobcat bench brought in the same energy as the starting five to keep the double-digit lead all the way through the finish.
Â
Every single Bobcat that was dressed got into the game and every single Bobcat scored a bucket in the 21-point victory. That's 12 players contributing of at least two-points or more. Four Bobcats were in double digits, three in the starting rotation and one off the bench.
Â
St. Thomas' bench outscored Warner 31-4, while STU also won the game in the paint 34-24, points off turnovers 20-15 and defensive game with 16 steals. The glass game also went to St. Thomas 38-26.
