The Mya’s Lead STU to Game One Win at SUN/SSAC Crossover Challenge

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (November 4, 2022) - St. Thomas University Women's Basketball (2-0) cruise past Middle Georgia State University (1-1), 70-57,  at the first ever SUN/SSAC Crossover Challenge. The teams faced off at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl.

St. Thomas traveled 675 miles to play in the north half of the SUN/SAAC Crossover Challenge hosted by Faulkner. The Bobcats fell behind in the opening minutes until Mya Moye hit a jumper to even things up at six. Two late free throws from Mya Victor would give STU a 13-11 lead to end the first quarter.

The Bobcats went on a 9-1 run to open the second quarter and gain some room on the scoreboard. STU would run off to score 19 points in the quarter and take a 33-20 lead into the half.

A slower start to the second half had the game within 12 heading into the fourth. Both teams boosted the offense in the final quarter scoring 47 points total. The Bobcats lead the way with 25 of the 47. The Mya's took charge both scoring in double figures.

St. Thomas owned the boards with almost double the amount of offensive rebounds for second chance points. The Bobcat also controlled the paint putting up 32 points and scoring 17 points off the 14 forced turnovers. The defense pick pocketed eight times and help the lead for 88-percent of the game.
