(RV) Men's Hoops Come Out on Top in Back and Forth Game in Georgia

Box Score BRUNSWICK, GA. (December 1, 2022)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball team beat the College of Coastal Georgia in a nail biter. The Bobcats were led by Milton Matthews with 18 points, and Fred Mulbah with 17 points. 
 
James Harris III got the Bobcats going early, drilling a three. STU then went on to go on to an eight-point run. D'andre Johnson kept the Mariners on their toes all night, this time hitting a three, followed by a jumper. 
 
After a few minutes of no baskets from both sides, Milton Matthews broke the silence hitting one from behind the arch. Coastal made it a two-point game but Dalon Dean extended the lead with a three, and the Bobcats couldn't seem to miss from deep. 
 
Another few minutes went by with no scoring, but Milton Matthews broke the silence once again hitting another three. Coastal just wouldn't go away and worked the game back to a three-point game with a few minutes remaining in the first half. 
 
With just under five minutes to play the Bobcats had a ten-point run and led 30-20. Just when it looked like STU was going to run away with it, the Mariners tied it up with two minutes remaining in the half. With some back and forward play, Coastal took a three-point lead into the locker room 37-34.
 
Coastal started the second half hot, going up eleven. James Harris III put an end to the run by getting to the line and making a free throw. Jordan Hernandez lit the spark for STU with a three. The Mariners stayed on the gas pedal with a layup to sustain a seven-point lead.
 
Fred Mulbah did a little of everything tonight, this time driving to the paint for a tough lay in. Jordan Hernandez hit another from behind the arch to make it a five-point game. Call them the come back cats again because Dalon Dean, and Milton Matthews hit back to back threes to make it a one-point game with nine and a half minutes remaining.
 
The Bobcats took the lead when Fred Mulbah maneuvered his way through the defense banking one off the glass for the quick two points. Getting in rhythm, Justyn Rogers extended the lead with a layup of his own. Milton Matthews made it an eight-point game hitting another from deep. 
 
The Mariners showed no quit, and got with two with three minutes to go. D'andre Johnson scored the last points for the Bobcats, making it 69-65 STU. With twenty-one seconds left, Coastal hit a three to make it 69-68. The game ended after some missed shots at the line for STU, and the Mariners never got another chance on the other side of the court.
