MIAMI, Fla. (December 19, 2022)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball team defeated the Waldorf Warriors 77-55 in the Bobcats final game of the Cruzin' Classic.
The game started off in a defensive battle on both ends of the court, with the first basket coming two minutes into the game. D'andre Johnson gave STU the edge with a wide open three. The Warriors got off to a hot start after that, extending their lead by five points.
Milton Matthews and
Dalon Dean went on to hit back-to-back threes to make it a one-point game.
Joshua Thrower was solid all night scoring the next two baskets at the rim. As a team, the Bobcats went cold not scoring a basket for four minutes.
Milton Matthews would break the silence and work his way to the line making one of two. The Warriors went on a small run, but
Milton Matthews gave the Bobcats the lead hitting one from behind the arch.
Jordan Hernandez kept the momentum going hitting a three of his own from deep. Fre Mulbah got to the line late hitting one of two, but the Warriors took a two-point lead heading into the locker room.
STU started the second half fast with
Joshua Thrower getting a jumper to fall.
Fred Mulbah and
Joshua Thrower made back-to-back layups.
James Harris III drove the net on the fast break to start a Bobcat run. After some time,
Justyn Rogers decided to shoot a three after finding himself all alone standing behind the three-point line.
Milton Matthews drove to the paint for the next bucket, making it a nine-point game. The Warriors cut into the lead some, but a jumper from
Joshua Thrower, followed by a
Dalon Dean three, the Bobcats took the largest lead of the game.
James Harris III pulled up for three on the fastbreak making it a fourteen-point game.
Dalon Dean made another three a short time later to really put the Warriors out of the game.
Federico Frascari checked in for the Bobcats and immediately hit a three of his own from the corner.
Dalon Dean ended the scoring for STU with a three, giving the Bobcats the win 77-55.
