THOMASVILLE, Ga. - St. Thomas Women's Basketball (10-0, 5-0 SUN) continues to roll getting their 10th win of the season to conclude a very important Georgia road trip. The Bobcats dominated from the start once again which lead to an easy victory over the Thomas University Nighthawks (0-9, 0-4 SUN) 82-52.
St. Thomas is currently outscoring opponents on average 22.9 points per game. Eight of the first ten games have been 10+ point margin victories. The offense has scored 70 or more points in nine of the ten games thus far. While the defense has kept opponents to a 55.8 point average, only surpassing 60 three times.
This game was not much different than most, as the Bobcats took a commanding lead after Brooke Bogatz hit back-to-back three point baskets to make it 8-2 out of the gate. The lead would head into the second quarter at nine.
The second quarter marked the 10th time the defense has kept an opponent under 10 points in a quarter this season. Another double-digit first half outing from Kasey Gagan would help power STU to a 46-24 lead into the half.
The second half had the bench break open the game holding a consistent 25-plus point lead. The offense would be too much for the Nighthawks as STU scored 20 plus points in three of the four quarters.
STU won every facet of the game, on the boards 59-35, allowing just five offensive rebounds and no second chance points. The offense had 20 assists to the Nighthawks nine, the bench outscored 27-12 and the defense chipped in with blocks 4-2 and steals 8-6. The paint belongs to St. Thomas scoring 26 points and allowing just eight.
STU will return home and take on the University of Fort Lauderdale, Wednesday, December 7 with tip-off scheduled for 7pm from the Fernandez Family Center Gym.
